This quilt has huge blocks that are perfect for showing off large modern prints. I decided to break out 10 fat quarters that I bought on my Honeymoon in Hawaii at Kilauea Kreations II. (I was so surprised to find so many great quilt shops on the big island, we went to four over the course of the week!)
I purchased the rest of the prints from Etsy's Lilla Bella Fabrics and Via's Place. I am using the navy herringbone for the binding but I am not sure what to do for the backing since I need eight yards. Eight yards!

What would I do for the backing? I would reduce the cost by buying just two lengths of fabric for the backing and piecing the missing stripe down the middle (that is, if there's extra fabric from the fat quarters!)
ReplyDelete8 yards is quite an expense...
P.S. I love the fabric choices!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I think you are right and I will have a healthy amount of scraps. 30-3.5" x 16" strips since I am not doing a border.
